After three years managing the design department at a Midwest university, Josh struck out on his own, taking on freelance projects while pursuing a masters degree in illustration and design. In graduate school, he fine-tuned his design and organizational skills while simultaneously falling in love with the art of painting and drawing.
With a Master of Arts degree in hand, he packed up his laptop and brushes and headed for the bright lights of Chicago, a far cry from the rural town in Oklahoma where he grew up. After six nomadic months as a freelancer and mastering the intricate El system, Josh has found a permanent home at NeigerDesign.
Josh is an invigorating addition to NeigerDesign contributing to our expertise in the educational market and rounding out our diverse creative team. He spends his weekends drawing and painting on whatever he can get his hands on, chasing his cat around the couch, and playing in as many soccer leagues as possible.
"Life is one of the greatest catalysts for inspiration. A morning ride on the El provides enough entertainment and ideas to keep me creative for a week."
“Give me a pencil and a sketchbook and I’m golden for days.”
“I have one very old, very obese cat. She is temperamental, lethargic, overly affectionate and completely dependent on me. What more could I ask for? Well, other than a dog…”
“The place where all my paintings and drawings go to die.”
“I like to use the word “Pop Surrealism” because it sounds so much better than “deviant nursery room mural”. I guess I just always preferred Saturday morning cartoons to paintings done by the masters. I can hear my mom’s tears hitting the floor as I write this.”
