Lekotek (a division of Anixter Center) is the country's central source on toys and play for children with special needs. Lekotek helps families raising a child or children with special needs learn fun, creative, and healthy ways to play together. During monthly one-hour play sessions, Lekotek Leaders focus on facilitating family interactions through play. Specially selected, and often adapted, toys are used to promote family connections and enjoyment. NDI took photos of the specially adapted and approved toys and incorporated them with documentary style family portraits to illustrate the year’s activities.
