Art Gallery and Salon—As You Like It
By Carol Neiger
I am part of a group gallery exhibit at As You Like It Salon and Gallery. As You Like It Salon was created by Patt Murray in 1979 and inspired by a mix of the 18th century French “salon” model (a group of people who gather to exchange ideas) and Baba Ram Dass’s “Be Here Now” (a book about the pleasure of existence) As You Like It is in its 5th incarnation at 827 Chicago Ave in Evanston.
Upon entering, As You Like It guests are able to discuss or to listen, to feel at ease or travel deep into thought, to be and enjoy. A true “salon” incorporates the new and rethinks the old on the way to finding individual solutions for each guest, keeping salon craft alive and vibrant.
Since its inception As You Like It Salon and Gallery has featured continuous, large exhibits of a variety of styles and media, including: works on paper, painting, collage, quilts, photography, stained glass, wearable art, jewelry, prints and mixed-media.
Gallery hours vary. Please call 847.864.3101 or visit the website at http://www.asyoulikeitsalon.net/id62.html
